Houmous recipe

Since I turned vegan, I found that I liked to keep a constant supply of houmous in my fridge. It goes with so many things, and one of my favorites is just to have it as a snack with some sourdough bread. Delicious! Due to this addiction, I’m glad that I found this wonderful houmous recipe.

I used to just be lazy and buy my houmous from the store, but one day I thought I’d try and make my own – how hard can it be?! Well, the answer, is “not hard at all”! I found this recipe from British chef Jamie Oliver and it’s dead easy. It’s just five ingredients – chickpeas, garlic, tahini, lemon and olive oil – most of which you will probably already have in the kitchen.

Basically, you just have to blitz everything up in a food processor and you’ll have your own, homemade houmous! Whack it in the fridge and enjoy whenever you have a houmous craving!

  • 1 x 400 g tin of chickpeas
  • 1 small clove of garlic
  • 1 tablespoon tahini
  • 1 lemon
  • extra virgin olive oil
