  1. Vegan French Onion Soup Start by slicing the onions into thin strips. After you have sliced all of your onions, heat up 4-6 tablespoons of the vegetable broth in a large pot over medium-high heat. Use however many tablespoons of broth you need in order to cover the bottom of the pot. Add the onions and garlic, and cook this for 8 to 10 minutes or until they have softened, stirring often while doing so.
  2. Add in the date syrup, soy sauce, salt and pepper. Stir well to avoid burning the onions for 15-20 minutes, until golden, before adding in the remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil, then lower to a simmer for at least 20 minutes. After that the soup is ready to be served!
